James 4:6-8

6 But he bestows a greater grace; therefore, it says:(A)

“God resists the proud,
    but gives grace to the humble.”[a]

7 So submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.(B) 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you of two minds.(C)

  1. 4:6 The point of this whole argument is that God wants the happiness of all, but that selfishness and pride can make that impossible. We must work with him in humility (Jas 4:10).
